For the Carhartt WIP Radio show hosted by London musician and producer Dego, formerly of 4hero, the mix drew from the catalog of his own label 2000BLACK, founded in 1998 and a defining force in London's Broken Beat scene. The set moved through broken-beat grooves, soul, and funk, channeling the label's identity into sound.
The sound Dego sent over carried an atmosphere close to old breakfast television idents, and the artwork was built to match that memory. Abstract linework is combined with three circular forms, layered in additive overlay so that overlapping strokes brighten where they cross, giving the composition a glowing, almost electric density at its intersections. The whole sequence is animated through a motion reminiscent of a solar eclipse to loop seamlessly. It was built forward first, then played back in reverse, preserving the logic of the linework while giving the motion its looping, hypnotic quality.
