UPSAMMY

Concept & Visual Language

For the Carhartt WIP Radio show hosted by Amsterdam-based musician, artist, and DJ upsammy, the visual concept aimed to translate her sound world, unpredictable yet deliberate, minimal yet expansive, into image. Her music moves between digital and organic textures, and the artwork was built to hold that same tension. The visual language combines floral, earthy tones with vibrant pastels. The process began with physical scanning, hand-scanning flowers to translate tangible material into digital source imagery, which was then distorted and layered to build the final artwork. Multiple layers of chromatic aberration, noise, and glow effects were used to create smooth transitions between these tones, translating upsammy's contrast between organic and synthetic into a coherent color world.

Execution & Rollout

The animation and poster were rolled out across Carhartt WIP stores worldwide, either hung in print or shown on in-store displays. The campaign was accompanied by a social media rollout on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The artwork also found its way into Audio Archives, the publication summarizing nearly the complete history of Carhartt WIP Radio.
